Medical Procedures

At EPIC Urgent & Family Care in Palatine, Illinois, we offer a variety of urgent care medical procedures to our patients, which means we can do so on short notice when needed. Urgent care like what we provide should be used as a convenient option when you can’t wait for a scheduled appointment or illness or injury strikes outside of regular office hours. It’s also an alternative to what could be hours of waiting at the back of triage in a hospital emergency room, but it is not a substitute for emergency care if you have an immediately life-threatening illness or injury.

Medical Procedures Offered at Epic Urgent & Family Care

Fracture/Sprain/Dislocation
Fracture, broken bones, sprain, strain can happen without any prior notice. At EUFC We have highly trained staff and onsite digital x-ray machines which can make your one stop spot for any injuries related visit. You can walk-in at our clinic without any prior appointment and can be seen by our medical providers and get the care you need.
After thorough evaluation, we can treat your fracture or sprain with splint or immobilizer along with proper discharge instruction for long term care.

Laceration repair
The management of minor skin lacerations begins with assessment and preparation of the wound, including the need for tetanus prophylaxis.
If your cut does not go all the way through the skin, it does not need stitches. If your cut is wide, jagged, or does go all the way through the skin, you will most likely need stitches. At EUFC, we repair lacerations with sutures, staples or surgical glue.

Incision and Drainage (I&D) of Abscess
A skin abscess, which is often called a boil, is a bump that forms when pus collects within the tissue of the body. An abscess can show up on any place of the body, and for the most part it is harmless.
Apart from antibiotics, Incision and drainage is a minor surgical procedure to release pus or pressure built up under the skin from an abscess or a boil. It is performed by making a small incision to puncture the skin using a sterile instrument such as a sharp needle, a pointed scalpel or a lancet. This allows the pus fluid to escape by draining out through the incision.

Ear Lavage
Earwax impaction is when earwax builds up enough to cause symptoms. Normally, earwax helps to protect the insides of the ears and prevents injury or infection. But having too much earwax can cause symptoms such as pain and trouble hearing. Young children and older adults are more likely than others to have earwax impaction.
Ear Irrigation is one of the most widely practiced forms of wax removal or foreign body removal from the ear.
